KUCHING, Dec 5: Targeted upgrades are underway in Semaba as Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap rolls out two new Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects aimed at resolving long-standing drainage and road problems in the area.

He handed over the Letters of Award to the appointed contractors through a ‘cabut undi’ (drawing votes) session witnessed by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) officers.

“Today’s handover marks another step forward in ensuring that development reaches the people at the ground level.

“These may not be mega projects, but they bring real improvements to the daily lives of residents in Kota Sentosa,” he said at the handover of Letters of Award for two RTP projects in Jalan Semaba today.

The first upgrade involving RM200,000 drainage upgrade at Jalan Semaba, beside the Chin Kiun Thai Ti and Thai Pak Kung Temples, was awarded to Nur Azan Enterprise, to tackle frequent flooding and stagnant water issues affecting residents and temple visitors.

The second project worth RM30,000 will improve the road surface at Lorong Semaba 8 to be carried out by the contractor from Syarikat Inai Tujuh Puluh Satu, enhancing accessibility and safety for residents living along the stretch.

He assured that he will work closely with MPP to ensure the projects are completed on schedule and to quality standards.

Yap said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will continue to prioritise basic infrastructure, especially drainage and road works where problems are most pressing.

He ensured that projects are delivered well, handled openly and ongoing engagement with residents in Kota Sentosa.

Both contractors are set to begin work at once, following standard RTP timelines. — DayakDaily
