KUCHING, May 28: Another RM300,000 has been approved under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2026 for Phase 2 of the drainage upgrading project at Kampung Stutong Iban BDC.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap announced this today following an inspection of the completed Phase 1 drainage upgrading project under RTP 2024 with officers from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID).
“The Phase 2 project is expected to commence once DID completes the necessary technical drawings and documentation process.
“The additional allocation will allow further upgrading works to be carried out at other critical sections within the village drainage system to ensure a more comprehensive and long-term solution to flooding problems,” he said in a statement today.
On the completed project, Yap said it involved the upgrading of the existing earth drains to reinforced concrete drains aimed at improving water flow, reducing soil erosion and mitigating the long-standing flash flood issues faced by villagers in the area.
He also expressed appreciation to DID officers, the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), and villagers for their cooperation throughout the implementation of the project.
“The completion of the project reflects the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s continued commitment towards resolving basic infrastructure issues and improving the people’s living conditions,” he added.
Yap stressed that he would continue working closely with relevant government agencies to ensure development projects in Kota Sentosa are implemented efficiently and according to schedule for the benefit of the rakyat.
He also thanked the Premier of Sarawak and the Sarawak government for continuously providing allocations for infrastructure development projects in Kota Sentosa. — DayakDaily
