KUCHING, April 24: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin has expressed his commitment to systematically assisting all schools in his constituency by using his Rural Transformation Project (RTP) and Minor Rural Project (MRP) funding based on urgency and priority to ensure their equipment and facilities are satisfactory.

In a press release, Yap mentioned that his commitment is aimed at ensuring a good physical environment conducive to learning and academic excellence, and for empowering students to be well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities as Sarawak moves towards becoming a developed and prosperous region by 2030.

Yap, accompanied by officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), the appointed implementing agency, paid a visit to SK St Alban Primary School on Jalan Kampung Sungai Tapang here as part of his RM100,000 approved RTP project for the upgrade of two multipurpose rooms and the construction of a covered multipurpose area.

“The RM100,000 RTP allocation was made after the school’s headmaster and teachers informed that the school lacked a covered multipurpose area, a computer lab room, and a library, all of which were urgently required to meet the needs of the school’s growing student population as a result of nearby housing development,” read the press release.

It went on to say that during the site visit, Yap requested officers from JKR to gather inputs and suggestions from school representatives on the new facilities, as well as to expedite the preparation of the scope of works and bill of quantities for the new facilities so that teachers and students could benefit from them as soon as possible. — DayakDaily
