KUCHING, Jan 3: A 53-year-old former grass cutter, unable to work due to a severe and long-term leg injury, is in urgent need of financial and social assistance.
He has been suffering from an open wound for over a year, severely impacting his mobility and overall quality of life.
The man’s 84-year-old father, a retired pensioner, has taken on the role of sole caregiver and breadwinner for the family, which also includes his 70-year-old wife.
With a modest monthly pension of RM800, the elderly father is finding it increasingly difficult to meet the family’s daily needs.
In response to the family’s dire situation, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has called on the Sarawak Welfare Department to expedite the processing of financial and social assistance for the injured man.
He also pledged to explore additional avenues of support through the Social Security Organisation (Socso) and other government agencies to provide the aid the family urgently needs.
Yap made these announcements during a visit to the family’s home at the Stampin Resettlement Scheme, accompanied by Kapitan Chai Yong Liang and officers from the Sarawak Welfare Department, according to a press release.
Residents in N12 Kota Sentosa who require assistance are encouraged to approach their local community leaders or visit Yap’s Service Centre at E-2-25, 2nd Floor, Gala Street Mall, Gala City, Jalan Tun Jugah, Kempas Heights, 93350 Kuching. – DayakDaily
