KUCHING, March 5: Under the 2023 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project funding, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has allocated RM100,000 for SK Satria Jaya in Taman BDC here.

The funds will facilitate necessary upgrading works at the school, supervised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

According to a press release, Huma Company has been selected as the contractor for the repair and upgrade project of the school hall, totaling RM100,000, with an expected completion date in the first half of 2024.

“The headmistress and PIBG (Parent-Teacher Association) chairman of SK Satria Jaya had earlier requested YB Wilfred Yap for assistance as the condition of their school hall was unsatisfactory to serve the needs of the students.

“Numerous studies have shown that the facilities of a school can affect the health, behaviour, engagement, learning, and growth of the students. The physical and emotional health of students and teachers also depends on the facilities they are getting in school,” read the press release.

It went on to say that Yap is committed to using his annual RTP allocation systematically based on urgency and priority to ensure that all schools in his constituency of N12 Kota Sentosa have up-to-date and satisfactory facilities, as good school facilities have a significant impact on the overall learning process as well as students’ mental, academic, and physical growth.

“During the simple handing over ceremony for the project, YB Wilfred Yap requested the appointed implementing agency (MBKS) to closely monitor and supervise the repair and upgrading works to ensure that they are completed on schedule and with quality finishing to ensure the benefits from the repairs and upgrading works of the school hall can be delivered on time for the benefit of the students,” it added. — DayakDaily
