KUCHING, April 5: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin allocated another RM200,000 to upgrade and repair SMK Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor’s facilities.

In a statement today, Yap said the allocation is in addition to the RM150,000 he previously allocated to the school in 2023 under his Rural Transformation Project (RTP) fund for the construction of a new toilet.

He also said that the additional funds followed a request from the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG).

On the same note, Yap assures his commitment to ensuring that all school facilities in his constituency are in satisfactory condition to provide a positive learning environment.

“A good learning environment with good facilities in schools creates students who are comfortable, confident, make friends easily, take risks, and aren’t afraid to make mistakes,” he added.

Earlier today, Yap, together with personnel from the Public Works Department (JKR), visited the school to monitor the progress of the construction of a new toilet.

During the visit, he also requested JKR to speed up the preparation of the scope of works and bill of quantities so that the school administration could get approval from the Sarawak Education Department as soon as possible. — DayakDaily
