KUCHING, June 21: A total of 64 points have been identified for the installation of street lighting, covering Lorong 1 to 11 of Jalan Sungai Tapang and Jalan Stakan.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap accompanied Penghulu Lai Boon Khee, Kapitan Lee Tho Fung and Sarawak Energy technicians today to identify the street lighting points for installation.
The costs for the installation are part of the approved funding under Yap’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) street lights funding of RM1 million for the whole of N12 Kota Sentosa constituency.
“The next area for identification of street lighting points will be at Stampin Resettlement Scheme under Kapitan Chai Yong Liang before moving on to Taman BDC and Statria Jaya BDC under Kapitan Boon Voon Min,” Yap said in a statement today.
Yap and community leaders within the Kota Sentosa constituency will continue to identify lighting points for the street lighting project, including areas such as Hui Sing, Kempas, Green Heights, Borneo Garden and other locations, to expedite the process.
“I hope this initiative will improve visibility, enhance road safety for drivers and pedestrians and discourage night time thefts or violence for the communities residing in Kota Sentosa constituency,” he added. — DayakDaily
