KOTA SAMARAHAN, Sept 9: Kota Samarahan aims to reach a population of 500,000 with 100,000 residential homes, making it a step closer to achieving city status by 2030.
In stating this, Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos said the current population is nearing 300,000, with residential homes nearing 50,000.
He mentioned that investors and businessmen are now actively coming into Samarahan with the serious traffic jam problems almost substantially solved.
“With the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project expected to be completed by the end of 2025, Samarahan will definitely be a business haven,” Minos said at the grand opening of a tyre shop outlet under Fei Yue Tyre Sdn Bhd recently.
Minos further said for Kota Samarahan to achieve its target, MPKS must continue to be guided by a policy of business-friendly and minimum red tape or bureaucracy.
“Excessive red tape is a hindrance and a drag to business and the private sector.
“It is the investors and business people that make a place active, vibrant, and prosperous,” he added. — DayakDaily
