According to Konsortium Bumi Group of Companies group managing director Dato Ir Janang Anak Bungsu, the collaborations will involve partnerships in oil and gas, rural electrification technology, smart paddy cultivation and ESG consultancy.

“We cover the whole of Sarawak with our services in multiple industries be it oil and gas, conventional consultancy, and others. We are also GBI certified consultancy. We want to formalise these MoUs to make known that Konsortium Bumi has ESG consultancy, smart paddy cultivation technology, smart advanced technology, and more,” Janang said.

During the event, the first MoU involves the formalisation of an agreement between Konsortium Bumi and Black Hornbill to pursue a five-year contract with Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (PETROS). Janang explained Konsortium Bumi brings its existing licences and experience working with PETRONAS, Nippon and Shell, while Black Hornbill brings personnel with experience from PETRONAS and Shell.

For the energy collaboration, an MoU will be signed with a company based in Barcelona involving technology that converts methanol into hydrogen and hydrogen into electricity through a reformer. The collaboration would involve a feasibility study to electrify rural areas, supported by a 600,000-euro grant from the Spanish government.

The third MoU involves paddy plantation industry in Sarawak with Konsortium Bumi signing an MoU with paddy industry consultants in Melaka and Sekinchan, Selangor; areas with large scale paddy farming. The MoU is to formalise utilising these companies’ smart advanced technology that employs artificial intelligence and internet of things (IoT) for paddy farming.

The fourth MoU is a partnership between Konsortium Bumi and AGV Group to expand its services on environmental, social and governance (ESG) consultancy services in Sarawak. This agreement is to build on Konsortium Bumi’s experience as well as AGV Group’s expertise in ESG solutions.

The four agreements are expected to expand Konsortium Bumi’s consultancy capabilities across multiple sectors as it enters its next phase after 20 years in business.
