KUCHING, Jan 27: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) will continue to advocate for equal allocations for all opposition assemblyman.
Special assistant to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen, Michael Kong Feng Nian said, the state coffers are for the benefit of all Sarawakians.
“Therefore the people cannot be deprived of the benefits of the state’s resources,” he said in a statement today.
Kong noted the political platform that DAP has is not to advance any personal interest.
Instead, he added, it is to provide them with a platform to find and consolidate donors or good Samaritans to help the needy.
On another matter, Kong expressed his gratitude to a local church for coming forward to help a family who are living on the first floor of a slanted shoplot within Kota Sentosa.
According to him, during his visit to one of the residence of family of eight, who are living on the first floor of a shoplot within Kota Sentosa to distribute DAP care pack, he noticed that the floor of the shoplot was slanted towards the side because the walls and even the main beams of the said unit are cracked and therefore are structurally compromised.
He said the condition of the building has caused great concern, and that they had immediately made some calls to explore what could be done to help the family.
“A representative from the church has since contacted me and informed that the church will be looking into assisting Mr Jong and his family.
“We are always grateful to be able to collaborate with any non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to help the society at large; in this case a local church.
“Even when being deprived of any allocation, we will strive to find ways to help out those in need,” he said. — DayakDaily
