KUCHING, Sept 11: Bintulu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) president Kong Chiong Ung was elected to serve as the president of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) for the 2023–2026 term during the ACCCIS annual general meeting (AGM) on Saturday (Sept 9) in Bintulu.
According to a press release, Kong succeeds Dato Tan Jit Kee, whose term expired recently.
Dato Lau Cheng Kiong, who was previously the vice president, was elected as the deputy president, while Tan will continue to serve as a vice president on the ACCCIS council.
Dato Jonathan Chai Voon Tok remains secretary-general, while Noel Yek Nae Shiuan was elected treasurer.
The AGM also saw the election of five additional vice presidents and 23 council members.
Kong expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all members for their support and committed to serve with zeal and dedication during his tenure of office, striving to achieve ACCCIS’s objectives and missions with his new team.
He also extended his special thanks to the outgoing president for his leadership and sacrifices throughout the years, and pledged to do his level best to bring more success and achievements while ensuring ACCCIS’s voice remained relevant in the business fraternity.
Additional appointments will be announced during the first council meeting in the coming weeks.
