KUCHING, Nov 14: A man pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here yesterday to raping his 10-year-old stepdaughter.
The kitchen helper was charge under Section 376B of the Penal Code for allegedly raping his stepdaughter at about 12am at Kampung Batu Kitang on Oct 1 this year.
Sessions Court judge Marutin Pagan fixed pre-trial case management on Dec 13 and denied the accused bail in view of his relationship with the victim.
During mitigation, accused Abdul Hardy had pleaded to be released on court bail as he needed to support his family. He also promised that he would not disturb the victim.
But deputy public prosecutor Azahari Yusof objected, arguing that no bail should be allowed for such an offence and also the accused had a relationship with the victim.
Section 376B of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of not less than 10 years and not more than 30 years and whipping upon conviction. — DayakDaily
