SIBU, Sept 9: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg are set to perform a song together at a community dinner to be held at MUC Hall on Sept 11.

Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, however, declined to disclose the title of the song when accosted by reporters last night (Sept 8).

“The highlight of the evening at MUC Hall is a song which will be performed by His Majesty. However, I will keep the song title a secret,” he said after officiating the Sibu district and divisional level of Tilawah Al-Quran at Dewan LAKIS here.

In addition to this royal performance, Dr Annuar added that the event will feature a performance by Imran Azim Iskandar, a student from SMK Bukit Assek, who recently achieved the title of world champion in the classical category at the World Championship of Performing Arts in the United States.

“We also have traditional performances from the Iban and Melanau communities. As for the food, we will serve popular local dishes such as ‘terung asam’ soup, ‘ikan lumek’ soup, and more,” he shared.

Regarding the preparations to welcome His Majesty and his entourage to Sibu, the Nangka assemblyman expressed confidence, stating that everything is proceeding smoothly, with detailed briefings from Sibu Resident Wong Hee Sieng.

He urged the community to give a rousing welcome to the Royal convoy along the designated routes.

“We will announce which roads they will travel on. Most importantly, I encourage the community to come out and show our ‘taat setia’ (loyalty and respect) to our Royal Highness,” he urged. — DayakDaily
