KUCHING, Dec 9: The road at Kilometer 29 in Lawas along the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) is temporarily closed due to a landslide.

According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS) today, the Political Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Sam Laya, said the landslide occurred due to continuous rain since yesterday (Dec 8).

He said immediate action would be taken to clear the road as it is the only main road used by about 5,000 residents in nearby villages (Long Sukang, Long Luping, Long Semadoh, and Bekalalan).

ā€œThere are no other alternative roads. I will be contacting the relevant party about this,” he said.

He advised road users to be careful when driving through the road, especially during monsoon season.

He also hoped the road repair and clearing works would go smoothly. ā€” DayakDaily.
