Kg Long Bemang inundated with flood water after heavy rainfall

MIRI, June 13: Floodwaters peaked in Kampung Long Bemang in Ulu Baram this morning following heavy rainfall since June 9.

As of 8.13am today, the floodwater level has reached 2.4 feet, compared to one foot high the day before.


According to Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Miri acting chief senior fire Supt Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee, despite the floodwaters rising, no evacuations of villagers was necessary but villagers are on standby for any eventualities.

Kampung Long Bemang, the longest longhouse in the Northern Region, comprises four blocks, namely, Haleluyah, Hosana, Maranata and Calvary.

Long Bemang is among the flood-prone longhouses along the Apoh river whenever it rains heavily. — DayakDaily
