Kenyalang Journalism Awards 2025 draws 433 entries, Premier invited as guest of honour

KUCHING, Dec 3: The Kenyalang Journalism Awards (KJA) 2025 has received a total of 433 submissions, with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg invited to attend the awards ceremony as the guest of honour.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), this update was shared with the Premier during a courtesy call by the Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex today. The delegation was led by KDJA president Ronnie Teo.

A total of 10 categories are contested this year, including News Feature, News Report, Sports Report, Broadcast Journalism, Sustainability Journalism, Business and Economic Journalism, Community Wellbeing, Photo Journalism, Photo Essay and Digital Economic Journalism.

“Like last year, the number of award categories remains the same, namely 10 categories covering Malay, English, Chinese and Iban.

“Some categories also involve broadcasts in addition to the special categories for broadcasting, including photos, photo essays and photo journalism,” Teo said.

The judging process for KJA 2025 was handled by the Malaysia Press Institute (MPI). The Sarawak Government continues its support as the event’s Platinum Sponsor.

Joining the lineup of sponsors this year are long-standing Gold Sponsors PETRONAS, Sarawak Energy, and Shell Malaysia, along with two new Gold Sponsors; Bintulu Port and Press Metal. – DayakDaily
