KUCHING, Aug 31: The Kenyalang Journalism Awards 2024 will take place in Kuching on Dec 14, as announced by the Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA).
The event invites professional journalists, editors, photographers, cameramen, and producers residing in Sarawak and employed by mass media organisations registered with Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia to submit their entries.
The competition is open only to active members of KDJA, Sibu Journalists Association (SJA), Institute of Rejang Journalists (IRJ), and Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA).
Active membership refers to those who have renewed their membership for the year 2024.
“Only works published between September 2023 to September 2024 are eligible to be submitted as entries.
“Their works must have been published in any of the main languages – Bahasa Melayu, English, Chinese and Bahasa Iban – and must be on events or happenings in Sarawak,” a press release read.
In the case of entries submitted by participants from broadcast media, such entries must have been aired.
A participant may submit a maximum of four entries in total for the entire Awards, inclusive of both individual and team entries.
Entries can be submitted via www.mpi.my/award/kja-2024 (link will go live later).
A total of 10 categories will be contested, which are C01 Feature and News Feature Award, C02 News Reporting Award, C03 Sports Reporting Award, C04 Broadcast Journalism Award, C05 Sustainability Journalism Award, C06 Business & Economic Journalism Award, C07 Community Well-being Journalism Award, C08 Photo Journalism Award, C09 Photo Essay Award, and C10 Digital Economy Journalism Award.
