Kedup assemblyman confirms heli crash victim from Kpg Sumpas Tampek

KUCHING, April 23: Kedup assemblyman Datuk Martin Ben has confirmed that one of the victims in the two-helicopter crash in Perak this morning is a Sarawakian from his constituency.

He said the victim is Joanna Felicia Rohna, 24, from Kampung Sumpas Tampek, Jalan Batu 11 Serian, Sarawak.


Martin when contacted said he was aware of the news and that Kampung Sumpas Tempek of Serian is indeed within his constituency.

He expressed condolences to the family of Joanna Felicia and is ready to extend any assistance to them.

Ten crew members were confirmed dead after two helicopters collided mid-air and crashed at the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) camp today.

The Royal Malaysian Navy said two helicopters, identified as HOM (M503-3) and Fennec (M502-6) helicopters, collided and crashed in the 9.32am incident.

The incident involved ten individuals, with the HOM (M503-3) helicopter carrying seven crew members and the Fennec (M502-6) carrying the remaining three.

“All the victims were confirmed dead at the scene and transported to the Lumut Royal Malaysian Navy Base military hospital for identification purposes,” said the Royal Malaysian Navy in a statement.

It added that an investigation board would be established to look into the incident, and requested the public to not share videos of the incident out of respect for the victims’ families and to facilitate the investigation process. — DayakDaily
