KUCHING, Mar 25: Works Minister and Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has announced a total of RM150,000 in funding for community development in Kapit, including RM30,000 for longhouse kitchen repairs and RM5,000 for each women’s bureau.

The announcement was made during the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project opening and the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ event at Rumah Annie Isop Nanga Pelagus, Batang Rajang which was attended by Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabung Ijang.

Nanta emphasised that despite his national responsibilities, he remains committed to engaging with constituents, supporting community initiatives, and nurturing young leadership to secure the region’s future governance.

Building on these community initiatives, he noted that close coordination among elected representatives under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition has strengthened planning and project implementation. This teamwork has contributed to major developments in Kapit, including a RM300 million bridge over Sungai Batang Rajang, a new district police headquarters, and road upgrades from Semaram to Nanga Belawai. — DayakDaily
