Kapit MP moved by Song longhouse fire victims’ strength, resilience despite losing everything

KUCHING, Sept 30: Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has extended his sympathy to the victims of 29-door Rumah Austin Ekau in Song who lost their longhouse in a fire on Sunday (Sept 28).

In a Facebook post, Nanta, who is also the Works Minister, said that his political secretary, Ambrose Abong Bugek, visited the victims on his behalf at Balai Raya Song.

He noted that any issues raised by the victims would be communicated to him by Ambrose for appropriate follow-up.

At the same time, Nanta also encouraged the victims to remain steadfast and strong during this difficult period.

He added that the Social Welfare Department (JKM) has disbursed immediate relief such as RM200 for pocket money, RM300 for clothes, RM300 for school uniforms, RM200 for school supplies, RM1,000 for kitchen essentials, and RM10,000 for building materials for every affected unit.

He further extended his gratitude to the Song and Kapit Fire and Rescue Departments, the Song District Office, JKM, and all relevant agencies for their prompt and coordinated action.

“I hope this aid distribution will be carried out properly so that no victim is left out from receiving support.

“With the cooperation of all parties, may we ease the burden of the victims and help them rebuild their lives,” he said. — DayakDaily
