KUCHING, June 16: Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has called on Chinese community associations to ‘sit at the same table’ and work together under the ‘umbrella’ of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to bring development to the area.
Speaking at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Kapit Che Quan Khor Moral Uplifting Society on Sunday (June 15), he said that the Chinese community, which has become the backbone of Kapit’s socio-economic vibrancy, must support and align with the government’s efforts to develop the state.
“Compared to 10 to 20 years ago, Kapit has developed significantly, and now various development plans are being implemented and will continue to be carried out, thanks to the cooperation of all parties and the support given to grassroots leaders and elected representatives.
“With many new development projects such as the MARA Professional College campus, Dataran Bujang Berani, roads, and many more that will be implemented in Kapit, it is only fitting that all parties continue to work hand in hand and collaborate in developing Kapit for our shared prosperity,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nanta, who is also the Works Minister, along with Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Native Customs and Laws) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, contributed an accumulative amount of RM30,000 to the Kapit Che Quan Khor Moral Uplifting Society.
Touching on the contribution, he hoped that it would be used wisely for the benefit of society and the community as a whole. — DayakDaily
