KAPIT, June 27: The Kapit District Council has dismissed a viral infographic and social media posts claiming the implementation of a one-way traffic system at the Lily Pond Market area in Kapit, stating that the information is false and was not issued by the council.
In a statement on Friday (June 26), the council clarified that the circulating material is unauthentic and advised the public not to share or believe unverified information, particularly those spread through social media platforms.
“For information, the council is still in the process of reviewing and assessing a proposed traffic flow improvement for the Lily Pond Market area.
“The study includes considerations on road safety, traffic efficiency, accessibility to business premises, and feedback from stakeholders,” it said.
The council added that no final decision has been made regarding any changes to the current traffic arrangement.
“Should any new traffic system be approved in the future, an official announcement will be made through proper channels to ensure clarity and prevent misinformation,” it assured.
Members of the public are urged to obtain accurate and up-to-date information only through the council’s official communication channels.
The council expressed appreciation for public cooperation in helping to prevent the spread of false information and maintaining community harmony. — DayakDaily
