KUCHING, Sept 13: Kanowit Waterfront is scheduled to be officially launched during Kanowit Festival 2024 that will be held from Sept 20 to 22.
Minister for National Unity (KPN) Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang in a statement today said among others, the three-day festival will see various activities held, including Kanowit RC Boat Challenge, Fun Fair and Trade Fair, Kanowit Power Boat Race, Rahmah sale, agency exhibition, Traditional Ceremony (Adat Miring) and Queen of the Kanowit Festival.
“This festival not only celebrates history and tradition but also recognises the various cultures and contributions that have shaped our identity.
“From traditional dances to delicious local food, every element of this festival is a reflection of our unique cultural richness. By appreciating cultural diversity, we can strengthen unity and peace in our society,” he said.
Construction of the RM5.3 million Kanowit Waterfront was completed in April 2023. Since then, it was also the venue for Kanowit Festival 2023.
Kanowit Festival 2024 is collaboratively organised by Kanowit District Council, together with Kanowit Member of Parliament Service Centre, Ministry of National Unity (KPN), and Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts.
Held since 2003, the festival is in line with the ‘Ini Warisan Kita’ initiative introduced by KPN as the main event in KPN’s flagship programme, the Malaysia MADANI Unity Campaign. — DayakDaily
