Kampung Pasir Pandak drainage system upgrade expected to address flood problem

KUCHING, Nov 26: The Rural Transformation Project (RPT) implemented in Kampung Pasir  Pandak to upgrade the drainage system is aimed at reducing the occurrence of floods in the village.

According to a report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and Kuching North City Commission) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the drainage system will help to reduce floods due to high tides during the monsoon season that often occur in coastal village.

“For Pantai Damai constituency, we did not miss to list the projects to upgrade the drainage system in the villages that is found to be needing a proper drainage system,” he told reporters after attending to the handing over of the RTP Project to upgrade the drainage system in Kampung Pasir Pandak today.


Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Assistance Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) noted, the RTP Project to upgrade the drainage system in Kampung Pasir Pandak is a continuation from the project that has been implemented previously.

“For this year, we have allocated RM200,000 for the Kampung Pasir Pandar drainage system upgrades, and another RM150,000 for the same project in Kampung Pulo Hilir,” he added.

Earlier on, Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Assistance Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) visited Kampung Pulo Hilir to monitor the RTP project involving the upgrading of drainage systems in the village. — DayakDaily
