KUCHING, May 16: The voices of Kampung Lubok Buan villagers have been heard as their long-standing request for a proper recreational facility gained traction with a site visit by Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap and officers from Kuching South City Council (MBKS) to evaluate a proposed futsal court project worth RM120,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

The initiative was driven by the village development and security committee (JKKK), which submitted the appeal on behalf of the community, citing the lack of facilities for youths to engage in healthy and productive activities.

In a statement today, Yap said the visit aimed to review key factors such as land suitability, design, costing, and project timelines.

“The proposed futsal court aims to provide a safe and modern space for youths and residents to engage in sports, thereby enhancing social cohesion and encouraging an active lifestyle,” he said.

Yap emphasised his commitment to supporting grassroots development, particularly projects that promote youth engagement and community wellness.

“I fully understand and support the request for a futsal court in Kampung Lubok Buan, and I will work closely with MBKS to ensure this project is viable and beneficial for all residents.

“The next steps include finalising the technical assessments, securing necessary approvals, and ensuring the project aligns with RTP guidelines,” he added. — DayakDaily
