Kameri hands over MEITD permanent secretary duties

KUCHING, Oct 19: Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) Sarawak permanent secretary Datu Kameri Affandi handed over his duties today to MEITD Sarawak principal assistant secretary (Administrative, Human Resources, and Finance) Husini Bakir, who will hold the post until the incoming permanent secretary reports for duty.

According to a press release, the ceremony of handing over of duties was witnessed by MEITD Sarawak minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn at his office, along with Ministry officers.

Kameri had served in the Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) since 1987 where he started as an administrative officer at the Ministry of Social Development, Sarawak.

Throughout his career in the SCS, he served in various positions in the Sarawak government, including in the Public Service Commission Sarawak (SPAN), different units of what was then known as the Chief Minister’s Department, Sarawak (JKM), the then Ministry of Planning and Resource Management Sarawak (MPRM), Land Custody and Development Authority, and as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Solidarity (MYSS), Ministry of International Trade and e-Commerce (MITEC), and Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal, and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MINTRED).

Kameri had also previously served as the deputy director of the State Human Resource Unit, director of the Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development Unit (UPUB JKM), and the director of the Sarawak State Sports Commission.

In addition to these, he had also served as the secretary of Majlis Kebajikan Dan Sukan Anggota-Anggota Kerajaan (MAKSAK) Sarawak, as well as on numerous other committees within the SCS.

In January 2020, he was appointed as the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Research, which is now known as MEITD. — DayakDaily
