Kajang associations back the calls for Liwan Laggang to be appointed full minister

KUCHING, Dec 23: Five Kajang association presidents’ has backed the call for Datuk Liwan Laggang to be appointed as a full minister in the new Sarawak Cabinet under Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The presidents are namely Amon Matu from Sarawak Kajang Ethnic Community Association (PKEKS), Ekot Ejui from Sarawak Kejaman Association (PBKS), Daniel Batin from Punan National Association (PNA), Bilong Siting from Sarawak Lahanan Association (PLAS), and Erick Drenner from Sekapan Belaga Association (PBSB).

According to the presidents in a joint statement today, it is time for the Belaga assemblyman to be appointed as a full minister after being appointed as assistant minister for three terms.

“The support for him (Liwan Laggang) is evidenced by his big win during the recent Sarawak Election,” they said.

Meanwhile, the presidents also expressed their hopes for a community leader to be appointed to represent the Kajang ethnic in Murum constituency.

“This is to ensure that special focus will be given to boost the development in the area,” the statement read.

At the same time, the five presidents, who are representing the Kajang community in Belaga also appeals for a political secretary to be appointed among the Kajang ethnic group. — DayakDaily
