MIRI, Feb 15: The Chief Minister’ wife, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, today declared open Shell Bhd’s childcare centre here that is primarily meant to support dual-career parents in the oil and gas industry.

Cik Cak Child Care Centre, located in Lutong, is a project by Shell Women Action Network (SWAN) and is supported by Sarawak Shell Bhd.

The centre was set up on Oct 1 last year and currently hosts 25 children.

Present at the launching ceremony were Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin’s wife, Datin Kong Shui Lin, and SWAN president Rodziah Zainudin.

“As the oil and gas workforce moves towards having more dual-career couples, childcare, therefore, requires a strong support system, especially for our employees from outside Miri,” said Rodziah.

The facility, she pointed out, was spacious and fully equipped and designed to provide high-quality childcare.

Rodziah said the centre, which opens from 7am to 5.30pm from Mondays to Fridays, was designed to accommodate up to 100 children, ranging from four-month-old to 12-year-old.— DayakDaily
