KUCHING, June 21: Lubok Antu MP Jugah Muyang is still keeping close to his chest on whether to join Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).
“I will make decision when I cross the bridge,” was all he said when contacted today.
The Independent MP was asked whether he has made a decision to join PRS following an invitation by the party president Tan Sri Dr James Masing.
Masing on June 20 told a press conference that Jugah had been invited to join the party and may consider fielding him to contest in Lubok Antu, which is traditionally a PRS seat.
Jugah won Lubok Antu in the 2018 general election with 1,059 votes majority after he defeated two other candidates – the late Robert Pasang Alam of PRS and Nicholas Bawin Anggat of PKR – in a three-cornered fight.
He joined PKR after the election, but left after the ‘Sheraton Move’ in February this year, which led to the collapse of Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, to declare support for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at federal level and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) at state level.
Jugah, who has also been linked with the formation of a new political party which was later confirmed to be fake news, had also denied it.
Separately, Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin has also denied about the formation of the new party, where he is named the treasurer-general.
“Not true,” Willie, who is Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities said. -DayakDaily
