KUCHING, Feb 3: A total of 33 items were offered at lower prices as part of the ‘Jualan Rahmah’ programme at Everwin Centre Batu Kawa (MJC) yesterday and today (Feb 2 and 3).
According to the political secretary to Premier Kho Teck Wan, the Jualan Rahmah was organised by N14 Batu Kawa Service Centre in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sarawak Branch.
The programme, she said, was aimed at helping people with the ever-rising cost of living by partnering with local grocers to provide grocery items at a discounted price.
“Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also the Batu Kawa assemblyman, had asked the KPDN Sarawak to organise a Jualan Rahmah at Batu Kawa area before the Chinese New Year to help ease the financial burden of Batu Kawa residents while preparing for the festive season.
“The participating grocer Everwin Batu Kawa and KPND Sarawak had carefully chosen 33 discounted items that are highly demanded during the Chinese New Year, such as mandarin oranges, sticky rice cake, carrots, carbonated drink cans etc for this Jualan Rahmah,” she said in a statement earlier.
During a walkabout to the Everwin Centre, she also mentioned that Dr Sim had expressed his sincere appreciation to KPDN Sarawak and Everwin Centre for working with him to help the community during this hectic festive season.
