KUCHING, March 17: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak has shot down viral claims that driving licences can be obtained without tests.

JPJ Sarawak said the posts circulating on TikTok misused images of its personnel to advertise illegal licence applications.

“An official report has been made to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Commission of Communication and Multimedia Malaysia (SKMM) to allow further investigation to be carried out into the dissemination of such fake information.

“JPJ Sarawak would like to emphasise that all processes for obtaining a driver’s license in Malaysia must go through legal procedures, including training at a registered driving institute as well as passing theoretical and practical tests as prescribed by the department. There are no shortcuts or special offers to obtaining a driver’s license without going through a process set by law,” they said in a statement yesterday (March 16).

The department also reminded the public not to trust suspicious offers on social media, warning that such schemes could lead to scams.

JPJ Sarawak urged the public to report accounts spreading false information to the authorities so that appropriate action can be taken.

The department remains committed to protecting the integrity of the licensing system for the safety of all road users. — DayakDaily
