KUCHING, July 9: A total of 57 non-compliance notices were issued by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak during a targeted enforcement operation around Kuching International Airport (KIA) and Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), following public complaints of traffic congestion and rule violations.
According to a TVS news report, the operation was conducted by JPJ Kuching’s Motorcycle Enforcement Unit (UPB) under Team Falcon, focusing on hotspots where irresponsible parking, such as on yellow lines and in prohibited zones, was disrupting traffic flow and inconveniencing road users.
In a statement, JPJ Sarawak said the operation aimed to curb these recurring offences, especially in high-traffic and sensitive areas.
“The number of notices issued reflects a worrying level of non-compliance among motorists,” it stated.
JPJ Sarawak reiterated its firm stance against traffic offenders, particularly in sensitive and high-traffic areas like hospitals and airport terminals.
Members of the public are urged to park only in designated areas and adhere to traffic regulations to ensure safety and smooth movement for all. — DayakDaily
