KUCHING, Aug 14: Federation of Sarawak Journalist Association (FSJA) president Andy Jong Wan Joon led a courtesy call to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.
The purpose of the call was to invite the Premier as the Guest of Honor for the Kenyalang Journalism Award (KJA) 2023, which will be held on November 24 in Miri.
During the courtesy call, Abang Johari also presented an RM100,000 cheque from the Sarawak government to FSJA as the event organiser.
Besides the State government as the main sponsor, three KJA gold sponsors, namely Shell, Petronas, and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), also contributed RM50,000 for the event.
There will be 11 categories for KJA this year, namely Community Wellbeing Journalism Award, Sustainability Journalism Award, Economics and Business Journalism Award, Journalism (Planning and News Writing) Award, News Reporting Award, Sports News Award, Digital Economy Award, Broadcast Journalism Award, Photo Journalism Award, Photo Essay Award, and Premier Award Sarawak.
A total of RM250,000 cash prizes will be awarded to the winners this year. — DayakDaily
