Joint effort sees 287 dogs vaccinated in Kuching, promoting responsible pet ownership

KUCHING, Oct 4: A total of 287 dogs were vaccinated in a one-day programme jointly organised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVSS), Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA), and Sarawak Veterinary Association (SVA) today.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), of the 287, 114 dogs received their first doses, while 173 received booster doses during the Mass Vaccination, Licensing, Microchipping, and Subsidised Neutering Programme held at the Sarawak Basketball Association Hall of Taman Seng Goon here.

At the same time, MBKS issued 182 new dog licences and 51 microchips, reinforcing responsible pet ownership among Kuching residents.

Six applications were also received under the MBKS, SSPCA, and SVA Subsidised Neutering Programme, aimed at controlling the stray population and promoting animal welfare.

MBKS expressed its appreciation to all agencies and volunteers for their continued collaboration and support in ensuring the success of the programme, which aligns with ongoing efforts to protect public health and animal safety. — DayakDaily
