KUCHING, Jan 11: Kuching City North Hall (DBKU) is inviting the public to join Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in the ‘Kuching Car Free Morning’ programme at Padang Merdeka here this Sunday (Jan 15).
DBKU said the programme will feature a variety of events, including ‘Fun Ride’, ‘Fun Walk’, ‘People’s Sports’, ‘A Day Together with DBKU Customers’, among others.
Abang Johari is expected to flag off participants for the Fancy Dress 2km Fun Ride at 8am.
In a statement today, the council said this year’s Kuching Car Free Morning will be held every first and third Sunday of the month.
DBKU has been collaborating with government agencies, private sectors, and communities in and around Kuching to organise the ‘Kuching City Car Free Morning’ programme on the first Sunday of every month since Jan 2022.
“The programme’s goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the city while also providing opportunities for locals to participate in a variety of healthy activities.
“The public response to the introduction of this programme in Kuching has been overwhelmingly positive,” it added. — DayakDaily
