KUCHING, Oct 2: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will be holding a World Environmental Health Day programme tomorrow (Oct 3) at its headquarters’ lobby in Jalan Padungan, running from 9am to 4pm.
Carrying the theme ‘Clean Air, Healthy People’, the event seeks to raise public awareness about the critical connection between air quality and community well-being, while encouraging practical steps towards creating a cleaner, healthier Kuching.
According to a media release today, the programme will feature an environmental exhibition highlighting information on air quality and sustainable practices, a “Sew & Save” workshop that teaches participants how to creatively upcycle fabric to reduce waste, and a used clothes collection drive that encourages the public to donate clean, reusable clothing for recycling and repurposing.
Admission is free, and MBKS is extending the invitation to families, students, community groups, and the general public to participate in the event.
Visitors are encouraged to bring along clean used clothing for the collection drive, as well as reusable water bottles and eco-bags to align with the city’s push to reduce single-use plastics.
Through a mix of exhibitions, hands-on workshops, and recycling initiatives, MBKS hopes the programme will not only inform but also inspire the community to adopt more sustainable lifestyle habits in their daily lives. — DayakDaily
