John Sikie retain Kakus for seventh term with 1,897 majority


KUCHING, Dec 18: Kakus incumbent Datuk John Sikie Tayai has retained N60 Kakus for the seventh term with a majority of 1,897 votes.

According to the Election Commission’s (EC) official results, John Sikie secured 5,307 votes defeating Peter Anak Tuan from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), who managed to gain 3,410 votes in a six-cornered fight.

Four other contenders, namely an independent candidate Ugik Anak Selipeh (546 votes), Joshua Jabeng from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (375 votes), Philip Kelanang Diung from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (337 votes) and Tiun Anak Kanun (162 votes), who is also an independent candidate, lost their deposits.


In the 2016 Sarawak State Election, John Sikie secure a 7,054 votes with a majority of 5,211 votes, defeating Joshua Jabeng from PKR (1,843 votes) and Clement Bayang from Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) (482 votes). — DayakDaily
