KUCHING, March 25: The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has confirmed that a viral social media post alleging a woman was found dead by suicide on the Jepak Bridge in Bintulu on the night of March 24 is false.

JKR said it referred the matter to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), who verified that no such incident occurred.

The department urged the public not to be easily influenced by unverified news shared online.

“We take this matter seriously as such false information can tarnish the department’s image and disturb public order,” JKR Sarawak stated in an official notice posted on its Facebook page.

“Firm action can be taken against those responsible for spreading fake news.”

The department reminded the public to verify the credibility of any information before sharing it, especially when it concerns public safety and security. — DayakDaily
