KUCHING, March 28: Jerry Siran Langan has been elected as the new president of Persatuan Lun Bawang Sarawak (PLBS), succeeding Dolphina Balang in a highly anticipated leadership transition.
His election marked the beginning of a new chapter for the association, with a focus on strengthening corporate governance and advancing the interests of the Lun Bawang community.
The association successfully held its 23rd Triennial General Meeting (TGM) at the Indoor Stadium, Lawas on Saturday (March 22), attended by 150 delegates and observers representing six branches and 18 unattached member branches.
The meeting was officially launched by Lawas MP and PLBS patron Dato Henry Sum Agong.
During the meeting, the Association elected its Central Executive Committee (CEC) for the 2025-2027 term.
In his acceptance speech, Jerry reaffirmed his commitment to leading PLBS towards greater unity and progress.
“With this role and responsibility entrusted to me, I am committed to ensuring that PLBS continues to grow in strength and unity. My priority will be to enhance corporate governance within the association while building upon the achievements of my predecessors.
“At the same time, I will work towards the objectives of the association, ensuring that we continue to champion the interests and well-being of the Lun Bawang community,” he said.

Jerry expressed confidence in the newly elected committee, highlighting the blend of experience and fresh perspectives within the leadership team.
“Furthermore, I am pleased that the newly elected committee consists of both experienced and young professional Lun Bawang, all dedicated to serving the association. This showcases the delegates’ trust in a balanced leadership that merges wisdom and fresh perspectives in developing a new breed of leaders within our community. This blend of experience and fresh perspectives will drive PLBS forward,” he added.
PLBS extended its gratitude to the outgoing leadership for their dedication and contributions. Moving forward, the new CEC is expected to spearhead initiatives promoting cultural preservation, economic empowerment, and community development among the Lun Bawang people in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
