KUCHING, Aug 1: Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil will be meeting with Department of Rural Water Supply (JBALB) to address the water problem faced by three villages along Jalan Borneo Heights.

The three villages – Kpg Sitang, Kpg Bangau and Kpg Petag – have yet to be connected to the main pipes for a clean water supply.

“A sum of RM1.4 million has been allocated for the project to have water supply connected to the three villages.

“However, the implementation of the project has yet to start, and for this reason I will have a meeting (very soon) with JBALB to help expedite the project,” Dr Jerip asserted.

The Mambong assemblyman was speaking at a ‘Ziarah Ukas’ programme at Kpg Sitang Community hall today.

The programme, the first in Kuching, also saw the distribution of 30 food packs to recipients from six villages in the area. The aim of the programme is to tell the people on the various policies and agenda of the state government, under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)

Dr Jerip also said he was aware of the problem of several households in the Mambong area without electricity supply.

He said the problem arose due to late applications, having built their houses after electricity supply was connected to the area.

“I am aware of the problem (electricity), but Padawan sub-district office has collected the data, which I will forward to the relevant authority for approval,” he said.ā€”DayakDaily
