KUCHING, Jan 14: The house belonging to Nona Budis, 63 from Kpg Emperoh Garung, which was destroyed by a landslide on the night of Jan 12 will be repaired soon.
The wall of the sitting room of the house was destroyed at around 8:30pm due to incessant rain for a couple of days.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
According to Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, the damage was still being assessed.
“At the moment the damaged is still being assessed by a contractor and I hope it can be done soon so that we can start doing the repair work,” Dr Jerip said when met during his visit to the victim.
He said the repair work would be carried out on a ‘gotong-royong’ by the villagers with the fund from him.
Meanwhile, Nona said she was watching TV alone inside the sitting room when the incident happened, while the five grandchildren were inside the kitchen.
“I was watching TV when suddenly there was a loud sound and it was during that time when my son shouted at me to come out quickly,” she said relating the frightening moment. -DayakDaily
