KUCHING, Sept 15: Jepak assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilip has passed away today at the age of 72.
Talib was also Sarawak’s former Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman).
His passing was announced in an obituary notice shared via WhatsApp today to media personnel.
The message also informed that the body of the deceased would be managed at the Samariang Muslim Cemetery at 7.15pm tonight and would be buried two hours after.
Talib started his career with the State Planning Unit in 1976 and held various capacities in the civil service including the post of Economist in Sarawak Foundation, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Industrial Development, and Ministry of Infrastructure Development.
He was a board member of a number of Government Agencies. Among them are Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM), Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), Sarawak Rivers Board, and Sarawak Tourism Board.
His experience in the private sector includes his secondment to Petronas/Asean Bintulu Fertilizer from 1983-1987 for the implementation of the Ammonia/Urea project.
He served as an assemblyman for Jepak constituency from 1996 until present. — DayakDaily
