KUCHING, June 10: Strengthening cooperation in the development and supply of hydrogen energy and ammonia was the aim of a courtesy call by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry led by the Department of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Natural Resources and Energy Agency general manager, Hiroo Inoue, to Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
In a statement today, it stated that the courtesy call followed a recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and two Japanese companies, ENOES Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation.
According to Inoue, the discussion included an action plan, development process, and investment in green energy (hydrogen and ammonia) exported to Japan.
“This matter has been noted and approved by the Legislative Body of the Government of Japan and it is in the process of implementation with the Sarawak government,” he said after his courtesy visit held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Accompanying the Japanese delegates were executives from ENOES Corporation and Sumitomo, together with the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and its subsidiary, SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd. ā DayakDaily
