Japanese Film Festival is coming to town

The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) 2019 is coming to town.

KUCHING, Sept 30: The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) 2019 is coming to town where their films will be screened at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), CityOne Megamall from October 3 to 6.

The film festival has a successful run in Klang Valley, Penang, and Johor Bahru earlier this month.

The Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur who is the organiser for the festival said that they will also show the festival films at Suria Sabah Mall GSC, Kota Kinabalu on the same date as in Kuching.


In a statement, the foundation said that the 16th edition of the annual festival boasts a broad collection of current and acclaimed titles across a variety of genres ranging from family to music and comedy for everyone to enjoy.

“The month-long celebration kicked off with the South East Asian premiere of ‘Little Nights, Little Love’ directed by Imaizumi during the opening night at Kuala Lumpur on September 3.”

According to the foundation, the Klang Valley JFF run ended after a seven-day marathon from September 5 to 11 followed by Penang from September 12 to 15 and Johor Bahru from September 19 to 22.

A special feature on music movies will also be one of the highlights this year with “Farewell Song”, “Little Love Song,” and “La La La at Rock Bottom”.

JFF 2019 is also a part of The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur’s 30th Anniversary celebration here in Malaysia this year since its establishment back in 1989.

They present all films in Japanese with English subtitles.
