Japanese co interested in opportunities in carbon capture, storage in S’wak

KUCHING, Dec 20: Japanese company JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation (JX Nippon) is exploring opportunities for existing businesses and new sectors, such as carbon capture and storage in Sarawak.

In a press statement issued today, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is also the Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, and Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, met with the company’s Business Division 1 director, senior vice president, and executive director, Hideo Kondo, during the former’s visit to Tokyo this week.

Awang Tengah was also briefed on the company’s operations in Sarawak.


He was glad that JX Nippon, which has been operating in Sarawak since 1987, will continue to explore more ways to cooperate with the State government to expand its business in Sarawak in line with the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
