KUCHING, July 9: Former Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit, passed away last night.
The late Dawos, who suffered from nasal cancer over the past few years breathed his last at the age of 70 at his residence at Stutong Park around 11.30 pm.
Dawos began his political career as Member of Parliament in the 1999 General Election (GE) when contesting as a Barisan Nasional (BN) direct candidate in the Mambong parliamentary seat.
He then joined Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and remained a Member of Parliament for the area now known as Puncak Borneo.
He was the Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water from 2015-2018.
Prior to that, Dawos was the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment from 2013-2015, and Deputy Tourism Ministerfrom 2009-2013.
The four-term Mambong MP decided to step down a few months before GE14 as he was experiencing health problems that also affected his vision. — DayakDaily
