KUCHING, Aug 8: A nursing home at Jalan Stutong Baru with 22 positive cases was among four new Covid-19 clusters identified in Kuching today.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily updates on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today, reported that this institution cluster dubbed the Jalan Stutong Baru Cluster involved several residents of the elderly care home.
A total of 115 individuals have been screened with 22 of them were found positive for Covid-19, including the index case, while 93 other individuals tested negative.
Of the positive cases linked to the clusters, 21 cases were reported today.
There was also an outbreak detected at Taman Malihah after 40 people were found positive of Covid-19, thus triggering the Taman Malihah Cluster.
According to SDMC, this community cluster involved a housing area along the Jalan Batu Kawa-Matang.
As of today, a total of 176 individuals have been screened, out of which 136 have tested negative. Of the positive cases linked to the cluster, two cases were confirmed today.
Another cluster emerged at Kampung Pulo Ulu, located at Jalan Kampung Panglima Haji Seman Ulu in Petra Jaya here with 29 positive cases confirmed so far, thus triggering the Kampung Pulo Ulu Cluster.
Of the positive cases, six cases were also reported today. A total of 119 individuals have been screened, whereby 96 have tested negative with no lab test results pending.
Covid-19 infections have also spread among a number of families living at Lorong Merbau in Kampung Rampangi Phase 2, Jalan Sultan Tengah here, with 22 positive cases detected so far, which triggered the Lorong Merbau Cluster.
A total of 23 individuals linked to the cluster have been screened and one person is still awaiting for lab test result.
All of the positive cases from all these four clusters have been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) as well as Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) for treatment and isolation.
Sarawak declared seven new clusters today. The remaining three clusters were identified in Tatau dubbed the Jalan Buan Cluster with 12 cases, in Sibu dubbed the Jalan Ding Lik Kwong Dua Cluster with 15 cases and in Lundu dubbed the Kampung Pandan Cluster with nine cases.— DayakDaily
