KUCHING, Feb 6: The Jalan Masjid Health Clinic (KK Jalan Masjid) has extended its operating hours until 9pm on weekdays and 1pm on Saturdays under a six-month trial that began on Feb 2, aimed at easing congestion at the Green Zone of the Emergency Department at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

In a post shared on his social media, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the clinic, which previously operated from 8am to 5pm on Mondays to Fridays, now opens from 8am to 9pm on weekdays and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.

The initiative, he noted, makes KK Jalan Masjid the only health clinic in Sarawak with such expanded hours.

“This is an innovative trial by the Ministry of Health Malaysia to help decongest the Green Zone at SGH,” Dr Sim said, expressing appreciation to the ministry for implementing the six-month pilot.

Jalan Masjid Health Clinic is one of the oldest clinics in Kuching.

One of the oldest clinics in Kuching, KK Jalan Masjid is a Type 2 clinic equipped with comprehensive medical facilities.

During the extended hours, two medical doctors are on duty, supported by nurses, pharmacists, medical assistants and other healthcare staff to ensure continuity of care.

Dr Sim, who is also Minister of Public Housing, Housing and Local Government, added that the clinic is also digitally advanced, operating with a Cloud-Based Clinic Management System (CCMS) and being the first health clinic to introduce online payment, despite the consultation fee remaining at RM1.

He encouraged members of the public with non-serious medical conditions to utilise the extended operating hours at KK Jalan Masjid, saying this would help reduce unnecessary visits to SGH’s Emergency Department and allow emergency services to focus on more critical cases. — DayakDaily
