KUCHING, Oct 19: Jalan Main Bazaar will be fully closed to all vehicles starting midnight tomorrow (Oct 20) until Nov 6 in preparation of a makeshift bazaar along the entire street in conjunction with the Sarawak Regatta-Kuching Waterfront Festival 2022.
The makeshift bazaar featuring Sarawak Craft, Sarawak Kitchen and Sarawak Gendang Festival will be part of the 10-day festival that will begin on Oct 28.
Kuching District police chief ACP Ashmon Bajah said Jalan Main Bazaar will be reopened to traffic on Nov 7.
“The public, especially Kuchingites, are advised to plan their journey ahead around the area and choose alternative roads whenever possible to reduce traffic congestion due to the closure of Jalan Main Bazaar,” he advised in a statement today.
The police also urged the public to cooperate and not park their vehicles along the roadside of Jalan Main Bazaar and Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg to maintain a smooth traffic flow.
