Jalan Airport Cluster caused by close socialisation at workers’ quarters, 12 test positive

KUCHING, June 7: Close socialisation among the occupants of several workers’ quarters in Jalan Airport, Miri had sparked a workplace cluster with 12 Covid-19 cases confirmed so far.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily update said a total of 122 individuals linked to the Jalan Airport Cluster have been screened.


“Of these, 12 people tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case, 103 tested negative and seven are still awaiting laboratory results,” SDMC said in a statement.

All positive cases from the cluster have been referred and admitted to Miri Hospital and the Miri Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) for isolation and further treatment.

The Jalan Airport Cluster is one of the two new workplace clusters detected in Miri today. The second is the Jalan Ilmu Cluster.

With this, there are 12 active clusters in Miri presently. — DayakDaily
